The fourth episode of the Niners Nation podcast breaks down what we've seen so far in 49ers training camp, and what to look for in the team's preseason opener against the Denver Broncos.

With the 49ers opening their preseason Thursday evening, I thought I would put together a podcast to get us ready. We've been doing hour-long podcasts thus far, but we went closer to two hours this time. I thought this went really well in terms of having solid guests, and hitting on a lot of great topics.

Our first guest was front page writer socalisteph at around the two or three minute mark. She provided some details on her professional background, explaining where she gets her medical knowledge. We then discussed several injury issues, including Patrick Willis, Justin Smith, Kyle Williams and A.J. Jenkins, and Jonathan Goodwin.

Guest No. 2 was 49ers beat writer Chris Biderman, starting around the 28 minute mark (give or take). Chris runs Niners Digest, and has been attending 49ers practice every day during camp. He provided his own insight into what he has seen in practice. While each practice report is useful, getting his thoughts on how players have developed over the last two weeks adds a little more context. Chris discussed a variety of players on both sides of the ball.

The final guest was former Eagles scout John Middlekauff, starting around the 1:10:00 mark. Middlekauff works in the media now, but had plenty of great insight based on his prior work. He has been to several 49ers practices and discussed what he saw. He was in Philadelphia when Nnamdi Asomugha came to town, so he had some great insight there. He also worked at Fresno State when Marlon Moore was coming through, so that gave him a unique angle. He wrapped up by discussing what scouts are doing during preseason action.

As always, please comment with any feedback on the podcast. It is a developing process, so we're hopefully improving with each one. As Coach Harbaugh says, you're either getting better or you're getting worse!
