49ers vs. Broncos: Nick Moody, Colt McCoy, Raymond Ventrone on injury report

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

We break down the 49ers-Broncos injury report, which included LB Nick Moody, QB Colt McCoy and S Raymond Ventrone.

When the 49ers step on the field in preseason action, I'm sure plenty of us hold out breath a bit, hoping the team can avoid any significant injuries. We haven't gotten final information, but after last night, it seems like things are not too bad. The 49ers suffered three known injuries, with Nick Moody injuring his leg, Colt McCoy injuring his shoulder and Raymond Ventrone injuring his hamstring.

Moody went down and seemed to be in pain. He was helped off the field, and after the game, he sent out this tweet.

According to the reports after the game, Moody told the media it was not a big deal, and that it was a hamstring and not a knee. Moody is in the mix for playing time at backup inside linebacker, so he needs to stay on the field. Michael Wilhoite is the current No. 1 backup, but Moody and Nate Stupar are in the mix for playing time.

Quarterback Colt McCoy suffered a shoulder injury, and he described it as a stinger. He was limited to only 14 snaps, but he was seen wearing pads on the sideline later in the evening, so it would seem like the injury is not too serious. He is reportedly getting an MRI today on the players' off day, so we'll see what results come back. The 49ers next practice is scheduled for Saturday. It will be Fan Fest at Candlestick Park, so it's an open practice.

The final injury was to Raymond Ventrone. The man they call Bubba has been playing exclusively on special teams, operating as Andy Lee's "personal protector" on punts. Reports indicate he suffered a hamstring injury, but we haven't heard anything else on that.
