What are our comp picks for 2014 looking like?

Okay; there have been a lot of questions about how NFL compensatory picks are awarded. All the NFL says is "a total of 32 compensatory picks are awarded to teams that have lost more or better compensatory free agents than they signed in the previous year.[58] Teams that gain and lose the same number of players but lose higher-valued players than they gain also can be awarded a pick, but only in the seventh round, after the other compensatory picks. "

other than that, its secret. However, analysts and (I assume) teams have derived what this formula is. For the most part, its based on contract size, with small adjustments for playing time and quality of play (e.g. postseason awards). players who earn the vet minimum or just above it do not count. the league then tallies up a teams gains and losses of eligible veterans (again, cut players, non-tendered players, and low salary players do not count). A blogger for the NFC east derived the following salary formula to award picks for the 2011 offseason:

Round average annual salary
3 $6.5/$7 million and greater
4 $5 to $6.5/$7 million
5 $4 to $5 million
6 $2.5/$2.75 to $4 million
7 $1 to $2.5/$2.75 million

based on that, here is what our FAs should be valued at:

Salary Projection
Goldson $8.25m Solid 3rd
Walker $4.375m 5th or 6th
RJF $5.5m 4th or 5th, probably a 5th
Sopoaga $3.67m solid 6th
Ginn $1.1m 7th
Skuta $1.5m 7th
Dawson $2.35m 7th
Dahl $1.75m 7th
Dorsey $3m solid 6th

As a result, the following cancellations would occur

Skuta Cancels out Ginn

Dahl cencels out Sopoaga

Dawson cancels out Walker

Dorsey Cancels out RJF

Net: 3rd round comp

If Skuta is cut:

Dahl Cancels out Ginn

Dawson Cancels out Sopoaga

Dorsey Cancels out Walker

Net: 3rd round comp, 4th or 5th round comp

So, we are assured a 3rd, but we're losing a 4th or a 5th by keeping Skuta. any questions?
