This post is actually the wide-receiver snap-count challenge. Basically it asks: for the first 4 games of the season, who gets snaps at wide receiver and where do they take them?
Does Boldin get most of his snaps in the slot? I believe that last year the majority of Boldin's snaps with the Ravens were in the slot (more than 60%), but on the niners KW may also be looking for slot snaps (i think that is his natural position). So how does that fall out? E.g., would Boldin 45 snaps per game 50% slot, 50% wide make sense? Would the wide snaps be more left or right? Would KW getting about 22 snaps, 40% in slot seem reasonable? How will Patton, Moore, Baldwin and Harper be utilized?
I realize the niners use a variety of complex sets, with 1 to 3 wide receivers, and that complicates things. I think last year about 10% of snaps were single WR, and I think those were mostly Moss. Maybe 30% were 3 receivers. We used a lot of two tight end sets.
If anyone would like to predict, prognosticate or speculate (or write a better post), that would be cool. There are a lot of new players at wide-receiver; I'd be interested in your thoughts and insights.
