Game Plan For St. Louis - RUN, DINK, AND DUNK

Run, run, run and just when you think about passing it? Check down or run it again. That's the game plan for Thursday, because right now, the only guy capable of catching a cruise missile from Kaep is Anquan Boldin and today's game showed how futile the passing attack is without Vernon Davis and Michael Crabtree.

As to why the 49ers abandoned an effective running game in the 2nd half against the Colts today is beyond my understanding. You'd have to ask O.C. Greg Roman that, because he's the evil genius, right? Anyways, this was only Kaep's 13th career pro start, and he is still learning how to go through his reads. He's still learning to build chemistry with rookies. And he's learning it the hard way with a bunch of sacks, turnovers, and 3 & outs.

So my suggestion? Get back to the basics. Dust off the 2011 playbook for Alex Smith and start DINKIN & DUNKIN. Then pound the rock with Frank Gore and sprinkle in some Kendall Hunter. Bring back the jumbo formations. Throw in the wham blocks.

Because right now, nobody's getting open downfield, and until Vernon Davis, Michael Crabtree, or Mario Manningham get back to full health, I don't see us consistently passing for huge chunks of yards.

So repeat it again with me now. What should we do this Thursday in St. Louis? RUN, DINK, AND DUNK! And hope we don't get penalized 10+ times or lose more players to injury or DUIs.

Done.
