Was trading Alex Smith the biggest mistake in NFL history?

I'm just trying to think of any others? The Ricky Williams trade? The Hershall Walker trade? Wes Welker being traded to Denver? The Jets trading to get Brett Farve? Any trade involving Terrell Owens? To me trading Alex Smith has got to be the worst trade EVER.

He had just led us to the NFC Championship game. He had one of the highest passer ratings in NFL history. He was the consummate professional. He played mistake-free football. He would have taken a paycut if asked. All good NFL teams have a strong backup QB so where was the planning? If Kap was to go down what do we have? NOTHING. Kap was also an unproven commodity and Harbaugh bet the bank on him after only a few games only to find out the check bounced. The read/option was no IRA. Oh well I guess we'll have to eat cat food....

Looking back it's one of the stupidest things we could have done. To me it's like trading away Steve Young in his prime. There was no reason to do it, we didn't have to do it, and we got very little out of it. Why Baalke whyyyyyyyy?
