Well, the hype was huge for Sunday's 49ers-Packers game, and I'd say the game lived up to the hype. It left us plenty exhausted, but the 49ers held on late to emerge with a 34-28 victory over Green Bay. The 49ers defense left us with plenty of question marks, and the run game disappeared for long stretches, but a win is a win is a win.

The star of the game was wide receiver Anquan Boldin. The 49ers traded a sixth round pick for him, and it is already more of a robbery than we first thought. Boldin had one of the best games of his career, hauling in 13 passes for 208 yards and a touchdown. Boldin had a key fourth and short catch in the fourth quarter that helped the 49ers put this one away. He did everything, whether it be great route-running, great hands and clutch catches. The 49ers could not have possibly expected anything more in Boldin's debut.

The defensive star of the game was rookie free safety Eric Reid. He had one tackle mishap early in the game, but he cleaned that up the rest of the game and made several huge tackles in the second half. Reid will get plenty of different looks throughout the year, but damn did he look good in his debut.

We'll be back with plenty more on a WILD opening Sunday.
