The divisional round of the 2014 NFL playoffs gets going today, and we kick things off with a pair of 49ers rivals. The top-seeded Seattle Seahawks host the sixth seeded New Orleans Saints at CenturyLink Field. If the Seahawks win, they host the winner of 49ers-Panthers. If the Saints win, they travel to face the winner of 49ers-Panthers.
The game kicks off at 1:35 p.m. PT, and it's looking like it'll be a messy affair. The rain is coming down hard, and there is quite a bit of wind whipping around. It benefits the Seahawks defense against the Saints offense, but can the Seahawks offense get much going? Marshawn Lynch will have something to say about that.
For the Saints, Pierre Thomas is inactive, so keep an eye out for Mark Ingram. If the Saints are going to win this game, he will likely need a strong performance. Ingram has had a very inconsistent career, but he's coming off a big game against the Eagles in the Wild Card round. He finished the game with 114 total yards and a touchdown.
I picked the Seahawks to win this game, in part because I still don't trust the Saints on the road. Yes, they went into Philadelphia and got a win, but I'm not holding my breath for a second win. Their defense can likely keep them in this game, particularly in this weather, but it's going to be a tough one.
