49ers-Seahawks injury report: Percy Harvin sits, Carlos Rogers, Will Tukuafu again limited

Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

The 49ers and Seahawks released their Thursday practice participation reports. We break down what some of the changes and non-changes mean.

Fooch's Update: Carlos Rogers was on KNBR this evening, and had this to say:

The San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks released their Thursday practice participation reports for Sunday's NFC Championship Game. We don't have any surprises, but some noteworthy names on the lists.

On the 49ers side, Ahmad Brooks was back at practice as a full participant. He was sick on Wednesday, and it sounds like he is still sick as the week moves on. Reports from practice indicated that he was wearing all sorts of cold weather gear to "sweat out" the cold.

Carlos Rogers and Will Tukuafu were once again limited participants. Although they're not getting in full practice reps, odds are good they'll be able to play. At his Thursday press conference, Vic Fangio was asked about Rogers. He said he took part in half of practice on Wednesday, had a chance to open up in terms of running, and looked solid in those limited reps. If he plays on Sunday, there is no guarantee he will get his starting job back. It is possible the 49ers stick with Tramaine Brock and Tarell Brown in their base defense, and switch Rogers to strictly the nickel role. Before his injury, Rogers would start in the base defense, and then move inside on nickel, effectively playing all snaps. The Seahawks do roll out three receivers a decent amount, but it would still be a much more limited role.

On the Seahawks side of things, Percy Harvin once again sat out practice as he recovers from his concussion. He has to be cleared at some point to play, so this remains a fluid process. If he is limited on Friday, I could see him playing, but if he is not able to participate, it does not guarantee he won't play. An absence would increase the odds of that, but we just won't know for certain. Some kind of word might leak out at some point, but barring Pete Carroll saying on Friday that Harvin won't play, we won't really know until game day.
