Any status reports on CB Carlos Rogers or CB Eric Wright?
"Yeah, both are listed as questionable."
Eric, did he strain his hamstring during practice yesterday?
"I wouldn't even call it that. He's back practicing today."
You haven't really addressed the weather. It hasn't been that big issue. But, are you curious about the forecast back there? Have you been listening to them at all? It seems to get colder and colder there for the forecast over the weekend.
"Yes. We're aware of it and we'll pack all our shoe options. And the guys will put clothes on that they'll be able to move around in and then start playing. The heart rate ramps up, the hot blood races to the arteries, to the vessels, to the capillaries, and there distributed to the fingers and the toes. In an athlete, the age and the health of these guys, that hot blood will be racing around."
When you can see your breath in that weather, and this may be a really dumb question, but does that impair a quarterback or a receiver's vision when your breath is perhaps blocking it?
"I've never had that experience that it impaired my vision, no."
And then what about maybe talking about the ball is going to be harder to catch for a receiver. Does QB Colin Kaepernick have to take that into account and throw a little bit more of a touch pass?
"I think the ball and the effect that that has on the game will be more seen by the kickers. The kickoffs won't fly as far, the punts won't fly as far, that's true. You'll probably see 10, maybe even 15 less yards on the kickoffs."
You were asked about possibly staying out between games. Is that still a possibility of staying out?
"Yeah, I said I've thought about it, put some thought into it and we're coming back here."
How about just going over some of the awards that you guys handed out today? Just what it means to see LB NaVorro Bowman get the AP First Team All Pro Award and then also get the Len Eshmont Award?
"Yes, those are wonderful things. Always had the feeling that if an award is out there, or a trophy, or a flag, ribbon, medal, try to get as many of them as you can. But, also within the team aspect of the game, never get too excited about individual awards. But, on the same or other hand, you might as well try to get as many as you can."
Are you disappointed at all that you only had one First Team All Pro, NaVorro? Then would you have liked to see more of your own players?
"I'd like to see us win the game on Sunday. I think if you talked to every guy on the team, that's what they want the most."
Offensive coordinator Greg Roman said yesterday that you had some of the best meetings of the entire season. Great practice leads to great execution, but what goes into having a great meeting?
"That's an interesting question. It starts with a well-thought-out and well-planned, well-executed presentation by the coach and then the players sitting up tall in their seats, feet flat on the floor, eyes open, ears open and listening. Also, interaction. The give and take. Questions being answered, questions being asked, questions being answered. And then as you get players to give their input during the meeting as to a particular game plan, then that elevates it even more."
Do you drop in on all position meetings or do you kind of keep to one group usually?
"Yeah, mostly on the offensive side. Occasionally go to a defensive meeting, but [defensive coordinator] Vic [Fangio] handles that. And the special teams meeting. I really enjoy the special teams meeting. [Assistant head coach/special teams coordinator] Brad Seely does a tremendous job with his meetings. Very well organized, very well presented."
Are you guys going to practice outdoors tomorrow? Do a walkthrough outdoors?
"Yes."
It won't be at the stadium? It won't be at Lambeau, it'll be at a neighboring school there?
"No, it'll be at Lambeau, on their practice field."
QB Colin Kaepernick's done a great job over the last few weeks of not turning the ball over, amongst some other things. How much of that is just on him making good decisions, seeing the field and how much of that is kind of a reflection of what's going on in the greater offense or even with the team?
"I think he's done a great job all season in that regard and in other regards. But, in terms of throwing interceptions especially, that's on decision making of the quarterback. That's the greatest share. Of course everything plays in, weighs in - protection, receivers that get open and get to the spot, receivers that catch the ball and the balls that don't get tipped. So, there's a lot of factors in a team game like football, but certainly when it comes to turning the ball over, throwing interceptions or protecting the ball in the pocket, a quarterback has a, I think, very great share of that."
I realize you said you don't get too excited over individual awards, but what does it say about WR Anquan Boldin that he can come in here and be a player on this team and be voted the MVP of what you have? To sort of acclimate himself as quickly as he did.
"I think it's great. There are two MVP Awards here at the 49ers. Sometimes it's the same person, sometimes it's two different people. But, this year it was two different. NaVorro Bowman received the Len Eshmont Award and Anquan Boldin got the Bill Walsh Award. So, think it's great. Well deserved."
