The playoffs are upon us! The San Francisco 49ers head to the frigid north to face the Green Bay Packers in a rematch of Week 1, and also last year's divisional round matchup. The winner advances to face the Carolina Panthers, and the loser goes home for the winter.
The weather is going to be a factor, as temperatures are expected to drop down below 0, with wind chill potentially as bad as -30 or -40. It's going to be incredibly cold, but who knows how it will impact BOTH teams. The Packers have played in plenty of cold weather, but how many of these guys have played in what could be one of the five or ten coldest games in NFL history? It won't be easy, but I think the weather will be rough on both teams.
The 49ers are a 2 1/2 point favorite as they head into Lambeau Field. The Packers have Aaron Rodgers back at the helm, and Randall Cobb back at his disposal, but they have an inconsistent defense. The 49ers need to exploit that defense early and often. They cannot afford to be in a position where they have to play catch up. Take an early lead, go for the throat, and put this thing away quickly. It's as simple as that.
This will be your first quarter game thread, and we'll be back with a new thread each quarter. We'll wrap things up with a recap thread.
