The 49ers don't get going for a few hours, but in the meantime, we get an AFC wild card matchup to keep us busy. The Cincinnati Bengals host the San Diego Chargers to open Sunday morning. If the Bengals win, they travel to Foxboro to face the Patriots. If the Chargers win, they travel to Mile High to face the Broncos.
I was 1-1 on my playoff picks yesterday. I had the Colts and Eagles winning. The Colts needed a miracle comeback to defeat the Chiefs, while the Eagles just could not get it together against the Saints. The New Orleans defense stepped up in a big way, and it helped get them the first road playoff win in franchise history.
I've got the Chargers winning today in an upset. The Chargers stumbled into the playoffs with every scenario going their way last week. This Chargers team is has been inconsistent this season, but is on a hot streak now. After losing 4 of 5 in November, they've won four straight, including a huge win at Denver. The Chargers could spring the upset against Cincinnati, or they could get blown out. I would not be surprised by anything at this point.
