The San Francisco 49ers and St. Louis Rams released their second injury reports of the week, and the 49ers saw some improvement. Defensive back Jimmie Ward improved from limited participation to full participation, joining cornerback Chris Culliver in that group. Earlier today, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said that Ward was likely to play on Sunday, so this development is not exactly shocking.
Patrick Willis and Tramaine Brock were both limited once again. If Culliver and Ward are both good to go, I could see Brock being limited to primarily sub-work. My guess is we would see Culliver and Cox as the starting cornerbacks, and then Ward in the nickel. Dontae Johnson and Tramaine Brock would then split some of that fourth corner work. Vic Fangio suggested there would be more rotation of cornerbacks once everybody is healthy, so this would be a good time to start.
