Anquan Boldin, 49ers both want to get deal done, per Ian Rapoport

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport provided a measure of confirmation about Anquan Boldin and the 49ers. It's something most of us likely assumed, but it's good to get more confirmation.

I don't know that I would call this "breaking news", or even really news. It's more somewhat of a confirmation of news that we really kind already assumed. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport was discussing free agent wide receivers earlier this afternoon, and he said both the 49ers and Anquan Boldin want to continue their arrangement in 2014.

In the video version of this report, he said the 49ers are "very interested" in keeping him. Boldin has inferred that he liked his time in San Francisco, and it has not been hard to then stretch that to think he wants to be back. Even something as simple as saying he enjoyed his "first year" in San Francisco counts in my mind.

The question now of course, is whether or not they can figure out terms. I would like to think they can, but we don't really know where the valuation stands between the two teams. I would be surprised if they were too far apart for a deal, but it's mostly guess-work at this point. My guess is the talks will heat up later next week at the NFL Combine. You get all 32 teams and most agents in the same place at once, which means deals can really take a step forward. Obviously people can talk on the phone during this lull before the Combine, but doing things in person is so much easier.
