The NFL Combine brings every team together for a week of draft assessment, with virtually every major prospect on hand. This is also a chance for teams and agents to catch up and in many cases really begin contract extension talks. And of course, we also get head coach and GM press conferences.
The NFL released the schedule for press conferences, which will run Thursday and Friday. Jim Harbaugh will make his appearance on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. PT, and Trent Baalke will talk on Friday at 7:30 a.m. PT. NFL Network will air some of the press conferences, but I'm not entirely sure if they'll be on for the 49ers press conferences. However, there is also an NFL Combine live stream at NFL.com. They'll mostly be showing streams, but they might get some press conferences as well. And of course, we'll hopefully also have some transcripts.
The highlight of last year's Harbaugh press conference (transcript) was the introduction of his love for Judge Judy. He was asked about player interviews, and the impact when a player was not truthful:
"Oh, somebody that's not truthful. I mean, that's big to me. I'm a big fan of the Judge Judy show. When you lie in Judy Judy's courtroom, it's over. Your credibility is completely lost. You stand no chance of winning that case. So, I learned that from her. And, it's very powerful, and true because if somebody does lie to you, then how can you ever trust anything that they ever say after that? And then [former President] Ronald Reagan, another person of great wisdom and advice, ‘Trust, but we will verify.'"
Let's hope we get some more bits of wisdom like this from Coach Harbaugh! We'll have transcripts later in the week.
