We are now less than six months away from the first event at Levi's Stadium. On August 2, 2014, the San Jose Earthquakes will host Seattle Sounders FC in the first official event at the 49ers new stadium. That will eventually be followed by the first 49ers preseason game, and then the first 49ers regular season game. Hopefully 2014-15 also includes two postseason games there!
As we get closer to the opening, the PR machine will be in full force promoting what could be the most technologically advanced stadium in the world. The video above is one such piece of promotion, and provides some interesting tidbits. Midway through the video, we get a look at the place growing the grass that will eventually be the first field at the stadium.
Yesterday afternoon, the 49ers tweeted out a link to 164 pictures from the stadium. They include shots from just about every possible area of the stadium, including the bathrooms. 49ers Senior Reporter Taylor Price sent out a tweet to the picture above, joking about no troughs at the new stadium. The troughs at Candlestick might have had some measure of efficiency, but when they would get clogged and overflow, it was just plain nasty. The urinals might have problems from time to time, but nothing will equal the nastiness of stadium troughs!
