I'm a little late to the show on this, but I figured it was still worth a share. This week, the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am is under way. For those that don't remember, two years ago, Alex Smith served as Jim Harbaugh's caddy at the event. Since that time, the 49ers "evaluated" Peyton Manning, Smith lost his job to Colin Kaepernick, and Smith was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs, who he helped lead to the playoffs this past year.
The week of festivities includes a Team 49ers vs. Team Giants charity golf event on Tuesday. Alex Smith was invited to Pebble Beach this year, and due to a shortage on Team 49ers, he ended up getting invited to play with the 49ers team.

The 49ers team included Brent Jones, Steve Bono, Dwight Clark and Harris Barton. They were short elsewhere, so they asked Smith to join the team. It is not surprising that he was nice enough to join the team. It was entirely random, but somehow it does not surprise me. You can check out some interviews from the event, including one with Smith.
