Steve Mariucci to make appearance on Outdoor Channel

I think this will go down as one of the most random things we'll post on Niners Nation. I got an email from promoters for the Outdoor Channel with this pitch: "Steve Mariucci Experiences the Agony and Ecstacy of Football and Fishing on Outdoor Channel."

The former 49ers and Cal head coach is making an appearance on Mike Pawlawski's show "Gridiron Outdoors with Mike Pawlawski." It's of note because Mooch actually recruited Pawlawski to Cal way back when. They have some jokes about that in the video above. I missed the show airing this morning, but it will air again Saturday at 4:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT, and then Monday at 7:30 a.m. PT.

Apparently, the episode will revolve around Mooch talking his recruiting and coaching of Pawlawski at Cal, the day he sent Brett Favre onto the field for the first time as the QBs coach at Green Bay, and replacing coaching legends Bill Walsh and George Seifert in San Francisco. It should be a fun show to watch.

Steve Mariucci remains highly entertaining on television. He's probably my favorite personality on NFL Network, and he generally just seems like a really entertaining guy to be around. He got a bit of a raw deal when he was fired by the 49ers. Who knows what would have happened to the 49ers had he stuck around, but I can't imagine it would have been like the Dennis Erickson era!
