Lets Harbaugh go, we'll be the laughingstock of the league and Jed's perception will be tarnished. Just 3 or 4 years ago, people were hoping he'd sell the team because he seemed to have no clue what he was doing. Since the hiring of Baalke and Harbaugh, he has been seen in a better light because he was able to swallow some pride by admitting he needed to get some real football people in the front office to hire a coaching staff.
He needs to give Harbaugh a blank check and pay him whatever. Harbaugh already cut us a deal once with Miami by taking less money to prove himself in the Bay Area. He has passed all tests with flying colors so why wouldn't he deserve a fat contract especially after taking less on his first contract?
I like Tomsula, but for all we know, he could be the next Singletary (meaning he could be a great rah rah guy who the players love, but be clueless when it comes to offensive football). After seeing Harbaugh take this team from a losing record to a perennial championship contender, this all seems like a no-brainer which makes this whole situation shocking to me.
This leads me to the question what in the hell is Jed York thinking? I guess we don't know what's going on behind closed doors and maybe Harbaugh is pissed with some of the picks Baalke has made in the draft and wants a lot more power that they aren't willing to give up. Maybe Jim, after recruiting NFL talent at Stanford, feels like he has the tools to be more hands on with who we sign and draft. Even in this case, I'd still pick Harbaugh and let Baalke go elsewhere.
Sorry if I seem to rant and jump around a lot in this post. I just needed to get this off my chest.
