This would be my 1 of 2 mock drafts. I was gonna try to do one before we signed Boldin, but oops. Here is number 1:
1. Brandon Cooks, WR
Lets face it: our offense needs speed. Even when we don’t utilize our speedsters (Kendal, LMJ), we need speed in the WR. Cooks got that $100k for being the fastest in Adidas cleats, that gotta mean something. Good hands and route running. I see a slot receiver that can torch up the DBs we will play (especially those Blue-Green guys…..)
2.A Deon Bucannon, SS
(I hope Whitner comes back) BUT business is still business. AND just in case if he does leave, I think we would pick up Bucannon from WSU. Not bad 40 (4.49), can make hits, and has a good frame. He also has rather long arms, which I read in some article that 9ers just love to draft (Aldon, Reid, Corey,). I think he would be a good addition to our back field.
2.B Weston Richburg, C/Deon Bucannon, SS
I think we should pick up Richburg. Out of the three centers, he is the most fluid and stout. I think Martin will be picked before our second pick, and Swanson seems too tall for a center. I watched him play against ‘Bama, and I'm impressed. He moved those big dudes, and I saw some pancakes as well. He would create good competition for Kilgore.
3A. Martavis Bryant, WR
WHY THE HECK NOT!?!?!?! I know this means that we would have potentially too much mouths to feed, but this kid has too much talent to pass up on. If he is available to us, 6’4" with a 4.4 40, I’d say increase the WR competition. Not only would he would be another excellent slot receiver, but a red zone target. A fast, tall red zone target at that.
3B Loucheiz Purifoy, CB
Why not add depth to our CB’s? We may or may not bring back T-Brown (which would suck). Also, we may very well snag a good Corner from FA. In any case, I’d pick this dude from Gatorville. Athletic and a good tackler, with having the skills of being a blitzing corner. He also has above average-average special teams skills.
