Like some of you, I'm still reeling from the most recent 49er player arrested. The feces has really gotten out of hand. I've been on a verbal tirade (inside my head) for the last 24 hours and I thought I should expend some of that energy on a mock draft.
It was done via Fanspeak and I took what it gave me. I only did a 5 round mock, which was my not-so-exact attempt at accounting for some trades. Call it unrealistic or horrible; I don't really care. I guess I'm starting to contemplate the 49ers sans Aldon Smith permanently and that is affecting my judgment. Way too early to know how much of a possibility that is, but it's now a lot closer to the front of my mind. This mock draft reflects that fact.
You might be wondering, "If the thought of losing Aldon Smith (permanently) is on your mind, why didn't you draft a potential replacement for him earlier than the 4th round?" I don't know the full answer to that right now. I suppose I just felt like loading up on the defensive line with high ceiling players with injury concerns because those players happened to fall to me and decided to wait on an OLB.
Here is what I ended up with:
Round 1: Jason Verrett - CB (TCU)
Round 2: Davante Adams - WR (Fresno State)
Round 2: Stephon Tuitt - DE (Notre Dame)
Round 3: Dominque Easley - DT (Florida)
Round 3: Cody Latimer - WR (Indiana)
Round 3: Rashaad Reynods - CB (Oregon State)
Round 4: Adrian Hubbard - OLB (Alabama)
Round 5: Colt Lyerla - TE (Oregon)
