why do I get the feeling that the 49ers are willing to trade anybody?
Now, Im not saying its a bad thing, but I think that Marathe and Baalke are ruthlessly analytical, and they wont sacrifice top line performance for a couple of players that they "fall in love with". Its all about data.
I had this flash in my mind tonight of the 49ers trading Kaepernick for both first round picks to Cleveland. This board explodes, with about half of us saying "well, we'll save $75m over the next four years". We drafted Manziel, and he and Gabbert compete for the starting job.
Now, I don't think this will happen, nor am I advocating for it. But I would not be completely shocked by it, because it fits the management strategy of the 49ers.
I wouldn't be angry. We have a run first offense, and Harbaugh probably feels he can get a mediocre quarterback up to an above average level.
