Agenda and Reporting Bias in the NFL

With all the talk about the 49ers "bad Boy" image I decided to look into the numbers to see if this is just an agenda by the news agencies or if there is actual meat behind what is being said. I looked into the database of arrests for NFL players (http://www.utsandiego.com/nfl/arrests-database/) and put together team statistics as far back as they went (2000) and came up with the following data.
1. Average Arrests/team since 2000 is 22. San Francisco has 16 so they are well under the average. Here is the list of the top 5 and bottom 5:
1. MIN 44 arrests
2. CIN 41 Arrests
3. DEN 37 Arrests
4. TEN 33 Arrests
5. TB 30 Arrests

28. NYJ 13 Arrests
29. ARI 12 Arrests
30 PHI 12 Arrests
31 HOU 9 Arrests
32 STL 9 Arrests

So, here we see Phi well down the list at #30 and yet they get a lot of press as to their bad boy image. Meanwhile Denver at 37 is the squeaky clean image of all that is good in the NFL.
So, now I am sure that everyone will be saying "but that is all old news and skewed from early 2000-2010 data. Teams are not like that currently.

So, lets cut it off at 2010 forward and see the top 5 and bottom 5. Average, btw, is 6.8 arrests since 2010.

1. MIN 14 Arrests
2. DEN 13 Arrests
3. TB 13 Arrests
4. CIN 12 Arrests
5. DET 10 Arrests

25-28.JAC/NO/PIT/ STL 3 Arrests
29. BAL 2 Arrests
30. CAR 2 Arrests
31. BUF 2 Arrests
32. HOU 0 Arrests

SF is at 11 with 8 arrests (tied with SEA btw…)

Now, based on this you would think Denver would be getting dragged through the process and have articles written left and right about their "bad boy" image…and yet there is almost nothing to see.Any news about Brandon Merriweathers DUI this weekend? Albert Haynesworth indictment for sexual abuse? (also this weekend). Or Mr Haynesworths Road rage Assault back in Feb? Certainly not much said on any of the channels I watch nor at the top of the news for most of the sites following the NFL…
