The 2014 Niners Nation NFL mock draft is off and running. We move on to the St. Louis Rams, courtesy of user El Shorts.

We're back for the 44th pick of the 2014 Niners Nation Community Mock Draft. You can see previous picks below in the draft table. You can also follow the mock draft board through this story stream.

With the 44th pick of the 2014 NFL Draft, El Shorts and the St. Louis Rams select Jordan Matthews, WR, Vanderbilt. He also considered Fresno State wide receiver Davante Adams and Utah cornerback Keith McGill. Here are his thoughts on the pick:

The Rams might have gotten potentially a steal if either Lee or Benjamin had fallen all the way into their grasp. Sadly, they'll have to "settle" for the proud owner of the SEC records for career receptions and receiving yards.

After failing to address their need to getting more weapons for Sam Bradford in the first round, Matthews will be a solid addition towards the young developmental offense of the Rams, which already includes young WRs in Stedman Bailey and Tavon Austin. Matthews is "tough and intelligent" and is a "big zone target". Sam Bradford might have just found the consistent WR he needs to become better.

Trevor Woods: The Rams have a lot of options at wide receiver on their roster, but they all carry a level of uncertainty when it comes to how productive they will be. Matthews is a nice pick for the Rams, as he has good height and speed, to go along with above-average route running and hands. I like Matthews, and unfortunately the Rams just drafted a receiver that could be a difference maker for them.

Nick Chiamardas: I wasn't the biggest fan of Matthews this off season particularly from what he showed at the Senior Bowl in January. Then Matthewsturned it on at the combine running much faster than most thought he would. The SEC career leader in receptions and yards has drawn early comparison's to the 49ers' Anquan Bolden. Matthews is a precise, big-bodied route runner that could operate from a number of different spots on the field. He could develop into Sam Bradford's security blanket in St. Louis.
