Receiving Yards Per Catch by Draft Eligible Players

that attended the NFL combine.....

Number Name Receiving Yards Per Catch Total Catches

  1. Tevin Reese 22.8 38
  2. Mike Evans 20.2 69
  3. Martarvis Bryant 19.7 42
  4. Odell Beckham, Jr. 19.5 59
  5. Kelvin Benjamin 18.7 54
  6. Josh Huff 18.4 62

We always talk about stretching the field and I believe the guys above proved it the most consistently last year through numbers alone. This list does not include Maruise Lee or Paul Richardson. I am a finance guy, so I certainly believe numbers don't lie. They may not tell the whole story but I did include the total catches to ensure you knew the sample size. I also took a look at arguably the best deep threat in the NFL right now 'DeSean Jackson'. While at Cal his best season (sophomore year) he averaged 18 yards per catch with a total of 59 receptions. Jackson played in the PAC-10 at the time (now the PAC-12) but Mike Evans and Odell Beckham, Jr play in the SEC. Thats pretty impressive. Paul Richardson average was 16.2 yards per catch for the 2012-2013 season. I still think he gains the most separation out of all the deep threat receivers in this draft. He had 83 receptions which is 20 more receptions than any of the deep threat receivers. Colorado used him as a possession receiver and a deep threat. They had no choice...that school does not have a lot of talent.

I have mentioned in earlier post that I love Mike Evans size but looking at his average yards per reception makes me fall in love with his potential. One last tid bit. A comparision of Mike Evans to Jimmy Graham.
