Good morning! We're in the lull of the offseason, which means in terms of pre-planned content, things are pretty varied. Thus, the "miscellaneous" section is a little larger than the rest.
One upside to yesterday was NaVorro Bowman made the rounds to talk about his knee and the "NaVorro Bowman" rule. For those that don't know about it, it's the new NFL rule regarding replay of loose balls. On the play in the NFC Championship Game in which Bowman tore up his knee, he had recovered a loose ball down near the goal line. Jermaine Kearse was ruled down and the play was not reviewable. Fortunately things were balanced out to some extent on the next play, as the 49ers stopped the Seahawks on 4th and 1. Given that the 49ers chances came down to the very last play, a few extra seconds could have been a difference-maker. Or maybe not. Either way, it's good they changed the rule.
If I had to pick a "favorite" link today, it might be the 49ers.com mock drafts. The folks at 49ers.com had their three internal media folks put together first round mocks. Taylor Price and Andrew Prentis went with Jadaveon Clowney at No. 1, while Scott Kegley went with Blake Bortles. Price had the 49ers selecting Ohio State CB Bradley Roby, Prentis had them selecting Virginia Tech cornerback Kyle Fuller, and Kegley had them selecting USC wide receiver Marqise Lee. All viable options, so we'll see which one of them might be right come May 8.
