If you were a Jags fan, would you want them to 'tank' this season?

Sorry if that title induced a cold shiver throughout your body - is it just me, or is this offseason really really REALLY long and slow?

Anyways there has been a ton of discussion lately about NBA teams who have turned to 'losing with a purpose'. Getting a superstar NBA player can instantly turn a bad roster into a decent one, and turn a decent roster into a contender. So why isn't this more prevalent in the NFL?

Well, the obvious answer is that the NBA is a league where one superstar can dominate almost entirely on his own, where an NFL team needs just that - a team - to compete. There is one position that is weighted much more heavily than others, however, and that position is the quarterback.

Remember when the Indianapolis Colts went from perennial playoff contender with Peyton Manning to worst record in the league within one season when he went down? Then went back to the playoffs the next year behind the arm of their new franchise QB Andrew Luck? Remember the Texans this past year when Schaub regressed and their QB play completely tanked? Heck, remember the turnaround our Niners did when Alex Smith completely changed course and went form one of the worst QBs to pretty good?

Now to the Jags; say they don't think that Bortles, Bridgewater, Manziel, Carr, or anyone else available this year is the answer. Winston and Mariota, however, are looking like they could be the next Andrew Luck-like talents that will go 1 and 2 next year.

Do you think the Jags should 'tank' to grab a high end franchise QB next year with a high pick? Or do they have some sort of moral obligation to their fans and ticket holders to put themselves into a position to win every game they can? Now the players will play to the best of their abilities and the coaches will coach to the best of their abilities because their jobs and futures will depend on their performance. The front office, however, can make personnel decisions and trade away draft picks into next year to essentially throw the season in hopes for a better future.

How would you feel if our team did this?
