Did this mock using the Fanspeak simulator and the Walter football bog board, which seems to be the most realistic. Was surprised to see Marquise Lee available in the 1st round, as well as Verrett and Fuller. Was hard for me to pass up a good WR here so I took:
WR MARQISE LEE
I then wanted to see how I could ensure also getting a top CB, without depleting too many picks from this draft. So I traded a future 2nd round and 3/13 for Cleveland for 2/3, giving me a third 2nd round pick this year. With those, I took:
CB KYLE FULLER
WR CODY LATIMER
S DEONE BUCANNON
Third round I was looking for centers, but the top 3 were gone, leaving only Ikard. But look who was still on the board...
CB PIERRE DESIR
With the next pick, was looking for best pass rusher available
DE KAREEM MARTIN
RB DRI ARCHER
Round 5 - was running out of players I was excited about here, so figured would rather take a 3rd CB who might be able to see playing late season or 2015 if the other 2 didn't work out
CB AARON COLVIN
Not sure if these players are all going to be available in these spots on draft day, but the strategy is interesting to me. Maybe you get Montcrief and Joyner instead of Latimer and Buchanan - ok with me. There's a lot of talent in the 2nd round this year, and maybe it's worth sacrificing a lower-round pick and a future 2nd round to get some immediate and long-term contributors this year.
What do you guys think?
