49ers draft picks: Aaron Lynch, Kaleb Ramsey sign contracts on day 2 of rookie development program

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers have signed their first two draft picks. Fifth round pick Aaron Lynch, and seventh round pick Kaleb Ramsey agreed to terms on 4-year deals. We break down some estimates on their contracts.

The San Francisco 49ers kicked off their rookie development program on Monday, and two days in they have two of their rookies signed to contracts. The team announced that outside linebacker Aaron Lynch (5th round) and defensive end Kaleb Ramsey (7th round) have agreed to terms on their 4-year rookie contracts.

The 49ers have 10 more draft picks to get signed. The folks at Over The Cap broke down all the rookie pool information on Sunday after draft classes were complete. The numbers are estimates, but they give us an idea of the ballpark for the rookie class. Based on what they have for the 49ers rookie pool, the contracts would break down something like this:

Aaron Lynch

Signing Bonus: $198,000
2014 base: $420,000
2015 base: $510,000
2016 base: $600,000
2017 base: $690,000

Kaleb Ramsey

Signing Bonus: $48,200
2014 base: $420,000
2015 base: $510,000
2016 base: $600,000
2017 base: $690,000

The base salaries are based on the minimum for each year, which is found in Article 26, Section 1 of the CBA. The contracts are generally not guaranteed aside from the signing bonus. There is no fifth year option for non-first round picks, but for picks in rounds three through seven, there is the proven performance escalatorBruce Miller and Chris Culliver both qualified for the PPE, which resulted in a bump in their respective 2014 salaries.
