I'm hoping some people more knowledgeable then myself can analyze this package and scheme
With the Addition of Stevie, I don't see why we can't use the 11 package as our base package and do a no huddle offense. The advantages are:
- Opposing DL would have swapped out run blockers for light weight pass rushers, also forces secondary to be in their nickel package. Since they can't swap out with no huddle, our RBs would have an easier time busting out.
- With our TE taking on SS (blocking or just running downfield) it would be our 7 vs their 6 in the Box (remember Kap is also a RB). Lattimore / Gore can act as 2nd level blockers.
- Read option allows Kap to either throw or run himself or pass to RB depending on defensive coverage at the snap without giving away our plays just based on formation.
- We can also mix it up with bunch formations to further clear a side of the field and basically have WRs do go routes, while the RB takes advantage of that open field
I'm tired of us power running into a stacked box of 8 dudes (sea-gals) with our 21 or 22 jumbo packages, it seems like its just not in our favor even though we got the best running/blocking team. If we can use this as our base and run 52% out of this formation, the defense won't know what to do. Spread the defense horizontally and vertically
I'm sure I'm probably missing something here, so feel free to criticize and poke holes. (I've never played football in my life) :)
