Marcus Lattimore, Jimmie Ward limited as 49ers kick off first rookie minicamp practice

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers kick off their first rookie minicamp on Friday afternoon. We've got a few details from media availability prior to it, as well as a twitter feed to follow during practice.

The San Francisco 49ers open their first practice of rookie minicamp at 3:15 p.m. PT, so I figured I would put together a bit of an open thread. Down below I've embedded the 49ers media list I have on Twitter. The practice is open to media, but I'm not entirely sure how much tweeting we'll get during the practice. James will be around later this afternoon/evening with a quick wrap-up of this first practice.

Jim Harbaugh met with the media earlier this afternoon, and had a chance to discuss the health status of Jimmie Ward and Marcus Lattimore. Ward had foot surgery before the draft, while Lattimore continues to rehab his college knee injury. Harbaugh said Ward would remain limited through minicamp, only taking part in walkthroughs. Harbaugh also said Ward was on track to be ready for the start of training camp.

Harbaugh said Lattimore would be limited in minicamp as well. He said Lattimore was "working through something" but stressed that it was not his knee. Maiocco wrote that, "Harbaugh initially appeared to reach back to his right hamstring area when asked a follow-up about Lattimore’s condition." Barrows' discussed Lattimore's own comments about being sore in a good way now that he is back to doing more football things. It seems like that is probably the case, but we'll see.

In case you missed it earlier, here is a look at the rookie minicamp "depth chart" based on the draft picks, UDFAs, and tryout candidates on hand:
