Good morning everyone, after a long wait, the day we have all been waiting for has finally come. For those who don't know, the first round of the NFL draft takes place tonight, followed by the second and third rounds on Friday, and the final three rounds on Saturday. The event is basically the Superbowl of the offseason, so as a result, everything else gets thrown on the back burner. For a few short days, we can put aside all of our problems - real and media concoctions alike - to enjoy the grandest spectacle of the offseason.
The draft of today has become an embodiment of just how powerful the NFL is in America. There is no football, nor will there be for months, yet teams picking players that may or may not contribute completely blows all current sporting events out of the water from a ratings standpoint. The 49ers pick at the end of the draft in the 30 slot, the general consensus is that they could do practically anything, making every pick must see TV. They have the ammunition to trade basically anywhere from 5-32 should they deem the player selected worth the capital spent. I have absolutely no idea who they will pick, and given Trent Baalke's history in the first round, nobody else does either. As far as position, which is a lot easier to predict, I would like to see a WR taken, though I see the merit in CB, Edge Rusher, or D-line. Regardless of what happens, tonight should be a blast, so lets get to those links.
