Navarro Bowman was shafted all year, right down to Defensive POY voting (ZERO votes). Fooch touched upon this shortly after votes were in, but I wanted to circle back after seeing that he dropped ten spots on NFL Network's arbitrary Top100 list (from 37 in 2012 to 47 in 2013).
This slight is just the latest towards what I thought was an absolutely remarkable year. Other defensemen put up better numbers, sure, but it speaks volumes that Bowman was able to stand out week after week on arguably the NFL's most talent laden defensive front seven. I've been watching football my whole life [though only sagaciously for about 8 years] and his 2013 campaign was one of the best I've ever seen from an ILB, hands down.
I bring this up knowing that we won't get the pleasure of watching him play for what could be quite a while. It really is a shame considering he had become one of the most electric athletes on the 49ers. I think most of us would agree that he has probably surpassed his brother P-Willy as the most well rounded player at the position.
Anyways, cheers to a great year and hopefully, a speedy recovery. And jeers to NFL Network for perennially compiling a questionable players list.
