Chris Culliver hit-and-run case continued to July 10

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

We've got a minor update on Chris Culliver's hit-and-run case. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Thursday, June 12, but it has been continued to 9 a.m. on July 10.

After much waiting, we've got at least a little bit of Chris Culliver court news. The San Francisco 49ers cornerback had a preliminary hearing set for Thursday, but it was continued to July 10. Some folks had been asking about this, so I called the clerk's office at the Santa Clara Superior Court. They did not have any further details on what the hearing entailed. I have a call into Culliver's attorney, so if I hear back from him I'll update this article.

Culliver faces a felony charge of possession of brass knuckles, a misdemeanor charge of hit-and-run causing injury, and a misdemeanor charge of hit-and-run causing property damage. Culliver is also facing a lawsuit looking for damages related to assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligent entrustment of a dangerous instrumentality. You can read the civil suit HERE.

Culliver is one of four players that have had to deal with some form of legal issue this offseason. Three weeks ago, Aldon Smith pled no contest to his guns/DUI charges, setting up a sentencing hearing for July 25. He is also still awaiting word from the Los Angeles City Atttorney's office as to a potential misdemeanor bomb threat charge. On Thursday, the Miami-Dade State Attorney decide to not file charges against Colin Kaepernick, Quinton Patton, or Ricardo Lockette.
