Well, once again the San Francisco 49ers are on their own in the holdout club. Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has joined the team at training camp, ending his short-lived holdout. This is not a surprise, but given Lynch's often mysterious ways, I don't think anybody really knew what to predict with how his situation would play out. All indications are that he did not get a new contract from the Seahawks.
The Seahawks will eventually have to move on from Lynch, but for now, he remains the key to that offense. Russell Wilson can be a very good quarterback at times, but without Lynch, that offense is a huge question mark. Christine Michael and Robert Turbin both have potential, with Seahawks fans particularly enamored with Michael. And yet, I can't imagine many would have been completely comfortable without Lynch in the lineup this fall. I certainly would have been very comfortable with it, but such is life.
In other Seahawks news, it looks like they might never get anything out of 2013 fifth round pick Jesse Williams. The defensive tackle reportedly needs another surgery on a knee he had fixed up back before the 2013 draft. He might get it fixed up, but for now the Seahawks will have to work around him. They parted ways with Red Bryant and Chris Clemons, but brought back Michael Bennett. They don't have quite the depth they had last year, but it is still a solid defensive front.
