The San Francisco 49ers were without wide receivers Michael Crabtree and Brandon Lloyd for team drills at their Thursday training camp practice. On Wednesday, Crabtree took part in individual work, and one-on-one drills, but did not participate in the team session. There were no reports on Lloyd missing the team drills on Wednesday.
Greg Roman has since said Crabtree is "working through something" and is "fine". Sometimes the "working through something" can result in all sorts of possibilities, but given where we are at in camp, I think it is safe to say Crabtree and Lloyd are just getting the Ray McDonald, Chris Culliver, Tramaine Brock treatment. Those three players have sat out this week with assorted ailments. Vic Fangio discussed all three, saying they were nothing serious, and it was better to rest players now than risk turning them into serious problems.
Speaking of Culliver, he was back in action, per Chris Biderman. He missed a couple days but as Fangio said, it was not anything serious. Culliver is currently the front-runner to join Tramaine Brock in the starting lineup. Jim Harbaugh spoke about the secondary earlier this week and pointed to Brock and Culliver as practicing at a higher level than that of the other cornerbacks.
We'll have a complete participation report later today.
