Golden Nuggets: Jim Harbaugh hits up an A's game!

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

49ers links for Sunday, July 6, 2014.

Earlier this week, San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh took in a San Francisco Giants day game, and we were able to check out a few screenshots of his appearance. In that article, I mentioned Coach Harbaugh's love for all things Bay Area. And we got to see it a few days later. Saturday evening, Coach Harbaugh was in attendance for the Oakland Athletics game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

As an A's fan, I do like that he was sporting the full green and gold. He has worn a Giants cap before, but he went with a 49ers cap for his game earlier this week.

A 49ers fan spotted Coach Harbaugh, and got a picture with him.

When Coach is out and about in the offseason, he seems cool about getting pictures with fans. I recall seeing video or pictures of him signing autographs upon arrival at NFL stadiums during the season, as well. He seems to enjoy his time with the fans.

It was a slow day for links, as would be expected the day after the 4th of July. Bill Williamson put together a brief mailbag column. He talked about Frank Gore, Quinton Patton, and Blake Costanzo.

We missed a July 3 article from Scott Ostler over at the San Francisco Chronicle. In it, he provides a lot of detail on Frank Gore's boxing workouts. We've seen several articles on the workouts, but this goes into extensive detail. It's particularly fascinating because of who he is working with. Victor Conte, most known for his involvement in the BALCO scandal, has made a switch since getting out of prison. He works with boxers, providing blood testing, supplements, and various high tech training mechanisms. It's worth a read just to see the kinds of things Conte is developing for boxers. I'm sure plenty don't trust Conte, but it seems like he's keeping things fairly straight at this point in his career. Whatever the case, it's a great read.

Oh, and if anybody cares, former 49ers tight end Eric Johnson married Jessica Simpson this weekend. People Magazine had all the details!
