The 2014 preseason officially comes to a close tonight, as the San Francisco 49ers travel to face the Houston Texans. The game kicks off at 5 p.m. PT, and will only be regionally broadcast. It will air on CBS in the Bay Area, and ABC in Houston.
I've seen several tweets from former GMs and the like in the media saying how the fourth game is a chance for someone to play themselves onto the roster, but unlikely to play themselves off. Of course, if someone on the bubble puts together one final strong performance, it would seem they would have to take a spot from someone also on the bubble.
Getting through this game will get us officially through the preseason. Friday and Saturday will bring roster cuts, Sunday will bring the beginnings of the practice squad, and just like that, we'll be into Week 1. I do like that indeed.
We'll have plenty to break down after the game, but for now, here's your first game thread, as well as a rundown of pertinent information related to the game.
