Another play to pull out of their back pocket.

Before I get banned again, I wish to postulate a play that could help shift momentum and possibly win games. It should be done infrequently, but early enough to make the defense have to think about it and possibly distract them from another threat. Maybe ideally, it should be done towards the end of the first half with little time for the opponents to be able to march down the field from the 5 yard line.

I call it a modified Hail Mary. On third down and long from inside their 20, the Niners should call for a sprint option. Kaep should buy time with his mobility to let the WRs get down field, and then heave the ball as high up in the air and as far as the 5 yard line. It would essentially be a jump ball, so one receiver should leap high in the air and tip the ball so it goes to another player off to the side or in the end zone. I remember posting this play a couple years ago, and the next week, I saw Cincy actually perform this play, with the WR catching the tipped ball in the end zone with a look of incredulity because he caught a TD so easily.

There are 4 things that could happen. It could get caught for a long gain or TD. It could cause a PI or holding call, or it could be incomplete. It could also be intercepted. 2 great things, one so so, and one bad thing. It should not be thrown into the end zone because if intercepted, it would be brought back to the 20 yard line. If intercepted on the 5, it would hurt Kaeps interception record, but the opponent would have to drive the length of the field to score. It would essentially be a 75 yard punt.

If caught, great. It would help demoralize the defense and make them have to scheme to thwart it. It could draw a penalty so the third down play would be successful. If incomplete, the Niners would just punt. The cost benefit analysis is intriguing. Hopefully, the Niners go for it. Last year, the play calling was way too conservative and predictable. I hope Jim Tomsula will roll the dice with more innovative plays and come out a winner.

I am not going be on this site for much longer. This blog site has become boring with all the true die hard Niner fans driven away by the peanut gallery. I guess my simpering sycophant comment really hurt them so they will use any excuse to ban me. I regret nothing. I meant all that I have written, and hope the Niners go 19-0 to shut the naysayers up.

GO NINERS!!!!!! SIX!!!!!!
