The Cincinnati Bengals lost a wild one Saturday evening, melting down in the closing seconds and giving the Pittsburgh Steelers the opportunity to win on a late field goal. The back-to-back personal foul penalties immediately had people speculating that the lack of discipline and the late game collapse might cost head coach Marvin Lewis his job. It turns that would appear ot not be an issue for now:
Issue of Marvin Lewis' future really isn't much of an issue. Bengals have no plans to make any HC change at this time, per sources.

A potential Lewis firing would have thrown a curve ball into the San Francisco 49ers search for a coach. There was some discussion that defensive coordinator Paul Guenther would have been the choice if Lewis were fired. Whatever the speculation, an opening there would have at least made the 49ers own situation a little more nebulous. This news from Adam Schefter hopefully removes concern about that obstacle.
