Good morning and happy Thanksgiving! The NFL gets the day of football going with a pretty big NFC North matchup. The Detroit Lions host the Minnesota Vikings in a matchup for November NFC North supremacy. Kickoff is set for 9:30 a.m. on CBS, with Jim Nantz, Phil Simms, and Tracy Wolfson on the call.
The Lions and Vikings are each 6-4, and sit two games ahead of the Green Bay Packers, with the Chicago Bears bringing up the rear in the NFC North. The winner of this game takes control of the NFC North, but it would be even bigger if the Lions win. Either team would be a game up, but the Lions already hold one win in the series, having beaten the Vikings 22-16 in Minnesota. A Lions win gives them the head-to-head tiebreaker in the event of a divisional tie.
The Lions are a 2.5 point favorite in this one. The Lions are 1-4 against the spread in their last five home game against Minnesota, but 4-2 straight up in their last six such contests. Of course, this Lions team is playing better than we’ve seen in a while. I’ve got the Lions covering the slim line, with a potential field goal win.
