The San Francisco 49ers open their interview process on Wednesday when they sit down with Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator and interim head coach Anthony Lynn. They currently have 11 interviews scheduled for various coach and GM candidates. They carry through the weekend and into next week, with more interviews likely to be scheduled.
With the start of that process, we have some updated odds on the coaching search. The folks at Bookmaker.eu opened odds on the 49ers coaching position on Monday. They have since provided an update, which I have posted below. I included the opening odds in parenthesis for each person.
Lynn is not included on the odds as Oddsmaker feels he is still likely to end up as the Bills head coach. They also did not include Sean McVay because they don’t see the turmoil in Santa Clara resulting in such a young head coach.
Josh McDaniels opened as the favorite, but they received enough bets on Kyle Shanahan that they have moved him into the favorite status. Vance Joseph and Dave Toub saw their odds get worse, while the long-shots all saw no change in their odds.
Falcons OC Kyle Shanahan: +170 (opened +300)
Patriots OC Josh McDaniels: +230 (opened +215)
Dolphins DC Vance Joseph: +500 (opened +305)
Chiefs ST Dave Toub: +1100 (opened +400)
Bucs DC Mike Smith: +2000 (no change)
Patriots DC Matt Patricia: +3000 (no change)
Stanford HC David Shaw: +3000 (no change)
Seahawks OL Tom Cable: +3000 (no change)
Jaguars interim HC Doug Marrone: +5000 (no change)
