The San Francisco 49ers have moved on to a new kicker, signing Robbie Gould to replace Phil Dawson. We don’t know what discussions were had between the 49ers and Dawson. He might have decided he wanted to move on, they might have decided they wanted to move on, or it could have been something mutual. Whatever the case, the 49ers have a new kicker.
NFL reporter Aaron Wilson unveiled a whole swath of contract details, and that included the deals for both Gould and Dawson. Both received two year deals, but Dawson’s ends up at $2 million more, with an additional $100,000 in a Pro Bowl incentive. Gould received a $500,000 signing bonus and $500,000 in a base salary guarantee, while Dawson received a $1 million signing bonus and a $500,000 base salary guarantee.
