The San Francisco 49ers have a contingent on hand for the Texas Tech Pro Day, and Patrick Mahomes is likely center stage for them. General manager John Lynch is among those in attendance, and according to Draft Analyst Tony Pauline, the 49ers met with Mahomes on Thursday evening. Pauline reported Mahomes also spent time with the New York Giants.
Mahomes has been climbing media draft boards, and there is a strong belief he will go in the first round. NFL reporter Charean Williams tweeted that he could end up with the Houston Texans, who hold pick No. 25 in the first round.
Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes is expected to hear his name called in the first round. Houston could be possible landing spot.

The 49ers have the second and 34th picks overall. It seems like a decent bet to predict Mahomes gets drafted somewhere in between those two picks. The 49ers have had significant interactions with Mahomes, Mitchell Trubisky, DeShaun Watson, and DeShone Kizer. They will likely host Davis Webb at their local Pro Day, but otherwise we have not heard about the other quarterbacks in this year’s class.
When the draft arrives and the 49ers make their many selections, one of the regular questions for the draftees is what interaction they had with the team. Some will have had extensive meetings and discussions, while others may not have heard thing one from the team. I strongly believe the 49ers will draft a quarterback this year, but if they invest in somebody the first two days, or early on day three, is there any chance it is someone we have not heard them linked to?
Of course, the 49ers did an excellent job keeping the John Lynch hiring under wraps, and they have been fairly discreet with some of their free agency additions. Maybe they keep a QB draft pick decision entirely under wraps?
