The San Francisco 49ers are in the market for some wide receiver help, and by all accounts, they will be kicking the tires on some expensive options. We have heard rumors about Alshon Jeffery, and now we can add Terrelle Pryor to the mix. The Cleveland Browns free agent is drawing interest from the 49ers, Giants, Titans, and Eagles, according to Browns beat writer Mary Kay Cabot.
Agents are going to be using the 49ers and Browns to push up the market for their free agents, so I would expect a lot of names to be connected to the two teams. Additionally, the Eagles and Titans are two teams in the market for receiver help. Both have been connected to the Saints in a push for disgruntled receiver Brandin Cooks.
The 49ers extended Jeremy Kerley over the weekend, but they still need a clear No. 1 receiver. Pryor had a big season in 2016, catching 77 passes for 1,007 yards with the Browns. It was his first full season as a wide receiver. The upside is that’s a really good first run at wide receiver. The downside is we don’t know how much he can and will build on that moving forward. The Browns had some awful quarterbacks last year, so it could be reasonable to bet on the upside, particularly with an eventually competent offense directed by Kyle Shanahan.
