The San Francisco 49ers returned Monday for the offseason workout program, and that’s giving players a chance to hang out with their teammates once again. I imagine there will be some activities this weekend, but in the meantime, the secondary got together for dinner Thursday night. Safety Adrian Colbert tweeted out this picture from an event organized by recent addition Richard Sherman.
Uncle @RSherman_25 brought the gang together last night✊ This group will be special, just wait and see pic.twitter.com/qPTLZgSY1s

There has been a lot of talk about Sherman taking on a mentor role, and we’ve seen it right out of the gate. He was on hand for Reuben Foster’s recent court date. And now we see him getting together with the rest of the secondary. Whether they talked shop or not, it’s good to see them getting together and building a bond early in the offseason workout program.
It remains to be seen whether or not this will result in improved play, but Sherman seems to be taking seriously this role of of mentor to the younger players. It bodes well for a young group looking to take the next step in 2018.
