Calling All Faithful: 49ers Fans, Lets Contribute
As a 49er fan, I've been a little envious of the Seattle Seahawks "13th 12th Man," which of course refers to their roaring fan base at home games. They notably have one of the loudest stadiums for visiting teams to play in during the regular season. Although the two post-season games hosted at Candlestick were louder than any Niner games I've seen in a decade. I'm challenging the 49er Faithful to be one of the loudest fan bases in the offseason.
Twitter has become a powerful media and communication tool, enabling ordinary Joe's to message and sometimes get feedback from athletes and celebrities. For those of you who have Twitter accounts, you are probably aware of all the interesting stories that have come from it. For instance, when Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder partook in a flag football game with a kid who was a man down, looking for a wide receiver.
What a coincidence, the 49ers are also looking for a wide receiver. I encourage all those with a Twitter account and all those with time to make one to rally as one and help recruit for our beloved 49ers. I think the consensus is that San Francisco is a true #1 receiver away from a Lombardi Trophy - so how badly do you want one in San Fran next season?
There are a handful of impact players at the receiver position but for campaigning sake, it's been narrowed down to two: Dwayne Bowe and Vincent Jackson. Since Bowe does not have a Twitter account and Jackson does (@VincentTJackson), let the rally begin.
I'm not going to assume 100% of Niners fans want Jackson; in fact I know a lot of fans would prefer Bowe or Stevie Johnson. But to briefly address the two issues most fans have with Jackson (age and price): despite being 29 years old, Jackson doesn't have a lot of mileage on his legs with only 3 complete seasons as a starter (2008, 2009 and 2011); his price could be lower for San Francisco given that Jackson would be able to stay in California and join a Super Bowl contender.
So Niners Nation, I implore you to take to your keyboards and recruit.

With everyone contributing a little bit, this could get recognition and really light a fire. Our collective efforts could result in the 49ers landing one of the big fish out there, whether it be Jackson or someone else. Let's give back to the franchise that worked its tail off for us this past season. And for you NCAA fans out there, you know great recruiting can win championships. Let's put it all on the table and see what we get back. Man your battle stations.

2011 Niners Nation Day At Candlestick
Over the last couple of seasons we've repeatedly discussed the idea of having a meet-up at a 49ers game. Nothing has really come of it and I'm too blame for that. Although the lockout could affect the 2011 NFL schedule, I still would like to start some preliminary polling on the subject. SB Nation has hired somebody to work as a community events manager, helping sites put together game-day events. If we can get some sense of when people might like to attend a 49ers game, we could get the ball rolling and be ready to get our event together if the labor dispute is figured out.
This particular poll is not a final, binding decision. Rather it's just a way to get a sense of what games work for people. Please rank the top five games you'd be able to and want to attend. I believe you have to vote for five games to get your result counted, so even if you know for sure you can only attend one of the games, vote for four more to help us out. Also, PLEASE ONLY VOTE ONCE.
College GameDay Thread 11/26
Some big names playing today. Right now it's #2 Auburn vs #11 Alabama. I'm rooting for Alabama in this one because an Auburn loss improves the chances of Boise playing in the national championship.
Tonight we've got #1 Oregon vs Arizona, which ought to be a pretty good game, as well as Boise vs Nevada, which ought to be another great game.
Here are the results from the earlier games. Noel Devine didn't get a ton of carries in the WV game but when he got the ball he looked good.

| Kent State 28, Ohio 6 | Box Score | Recap |

After the jump we've got the TV schedule for the rest of today's games...
David Carr Press Conference Memorial Open Thread Number2
Fooch and I think it's high time for another open thread. Tensions are ratcheting up, and these are always a good way to blow steam off. For those that don't remember this tradition hearkens back to the David Carr Press Conference that never happened. It's a good thing too, since the hilarity that ensued in the 546 comment thread was far better than any possible press conference could've been. Join us below the jump for some randomness and fun.
New Uniforms to be Unveiled April 25th
Thats right people, the day is near. At the Santa Clara Convention Center, on April 25th, the opening day of the draft, from Noon to 4 pm, the 49ers franchise will unveil their new duds for the whole world to see, according to Barrows.
The uniforms will be unveiled before the Draft begins. As everyone expects, and as was hinted to at the State of the Franchise press conference, the uniforms should resemble the throwback uniforms of the past few seasons (no shadowing on the letters, stripes on the arms, grey facemask and a white stripe down the middle of the helmet - please god no Gray Poupon pants...). After the Niners make their first pick, Coach Singletary himself will show up to the convention center to address the crowd, followed by a Q&A session with a whole slew of Niners, announced by the Niners radio team of Gary Plummer and Ted Robinson (taking over for Starkey).
Tickets to the event for those who are interested are FREE and available first to season ticket holders, then to the general public, and can be reserved at the 49ers official website.
While not BREAKING NEWS, it is interesting, and something I know many people on this blog have been talking about for a while. The questions I pose to you Nation:
1) What are your feelings on the new uniforms (excited, nervous, angry, remorseful, hungry)?
2) How do you feel about Singletary showing up at this party while the draft is still taking place to pimp the new duds?
49ers Family Day - Saturday June 16
For those that don't know, this coming Saturday the 16th is the 49ers annual Family Day at Monster Park. It's from 10am to 2pm and according to the 49ers, it will include:
- Autograph opportunities with 49ers players and alumni
- Youth football activities, contests, interactive inflatable games, Junior Gold Rush cheerleading clinics, football 101 sessions and tours of the 49ers locker room
- Photo opportunities with the 49ers Alumni, Gold Rush Cheerleaders, Sourdoguh Sam and a Super Bowl trophy
- FREE admission, activities and parking
One reason I am bringing this up is I'm curious if any readers will be attending the event? If you are, let me know as I will definitely be there rocking my Alex Smith jersey. If you can't make it, no worries. KNBR will be broadcasting live from the event and I plan on posting a full wrap-up of the day's festivities Saturday afternoon/evening.
