SB Nation Blogs

SB Nation's YouTube Channel: A Little Something For Everybody

Over the past week I've posted videos involving draft recaps of each day. For those who are not aware, SB Nation has undertaken a fairly massive YouTube project that involves a whole host of content across the network. Some are basic reactions from the many different SB Nation blogs. Others are regular features like Bomani & Jones and Shutdown Fullback. And there are a whole random mix of bizarre and entertaining events we send people to, including a party hosted by Jason Pierre-Paul and Kate Upton, the NFL Draft (VIP vs. fan perspective) or an NFL PLAY 60 event.

As we head into the summer, things will quiet down in terms of football news. However, I'm helping to develop some video projects. For example, I've been talking with the studio about putting together some video to analyze the depth chart heading into training camp. They have some awesome graphics people and the production quality on the studio videos is pretty amazing. I'm thinking we can come up with some fun video to break down the depth chart position-by-position. We are limited in terms of video we can use, but there is a lot we can do with graphics.

In the meantime, this video below is something Amy K. Nelson put together about former Kansas City Royals player Willie Mays Aikens. It's 10 minutes, so not too long, but it's an interesting look at the rise, fall and rise again of Aikens. It's unrelated to football, but it's still Interesting stuff.

Saturday Swing Around SB Nation: Sports Bar Nation

This is a feature I ran last offseason, and I've decided to bring it back. For now, it will be a weekly thing, and when football gets back on track (providing it actually does any time soon), then it'll run a little less frequently, I'd imagine. The idea is to simply talk about some of the other fine blogs on our network of 325+. The last time I posted one of these, we were sitting at 254 sports blogs, so we've seen some significant growth.

Most recently, (the term "recently" is being used loosely here, as it was May 29th, 2010 when the last post was made) I took a look at our NASCAR blog, NASCAR Ranting and Raving. About a week ago, I received an email from that site's editor, 4ever3, thanking me for the post. He acknowledged that he was about a year late on it, but the sentiments were well-received by myself either way.  So I've decided to bring them back.

Previously, I'd taken a look at Blog Huddle, the official blog about SB Nation. In that post, I linked the previous Saturday Swing posts, you can find it here - or you can simply click the section up top "SB Nation Blogs" to see all the previous posts I've done. Lastly, I recommend following the official @SBNation Twitter account, they link some great stuff on there, as the flagship site has grown quite a bit in regards to original content.

Today, we'll take a look at Sports Bar Nation, make the jump for more.

Saturday Swing Around SB Nation: NASCAR Ranting and Raving

Last Saturday I took a look at a blog on minor league baseball called.. well.. Minor League Ball. The week before that, I covered Blog Huddle, the official State of SB Nation blog in this post. In the latter post, I linked to all of my previous 'Swings, so go ahead and check that out if you want to see 'em.

I've also made it a goal to visit all 254+ sports blogs here on SB Nation and contribute some form of posting at least once. It's not a part of this series of posts, but I felt like noting that and maybe I might touch up on it a bit in the future. I just want to experience all of them a little more than just examining from the sidelines like I do for these Swings.

Today I'll be looking at NASCAR Ranting and Raving. If you didn't figure as much, it's our resident NASCAR blog.

Saturday Swing Around SB Nation: Minor League Ball

So last weeks edition of the Saturday Swing was a look at the official state of SB Nation blog, Blog Huddle. In that piece, I covered all my previous Swings and linked to them, so if you're interested to see the blogs I've covered in the past, here is a link to last week's edition.

I've covered only a handful of SB Nation's some-255 strong blog catalog and I'll continue this throughout the offseason. I'll do my best to cover everything that isn't team specific, because I know you folks aren't interested in, say, the Raiders blog, or the Cowboys blog--things of that nature.

Blogs about sports history, eating contests and fantasy sports, that's what I've looked at. A while ago I took a look at Ridiculous Upside, a very well-run blog about the NBA's developmental league. This week I'm taking a look at Minor League Ball, a blog about minor league baseball.

Saturday Swing Around SB Nation: Blog Huddle

It's Saturday, which means it's time for me to take you around SB Nation with another blog profile. Today, however, will be a little different. I'll still profile a blog, but I also am going to link to all of my previous Saturday Swings so you can read them if you've missed them, and read them again if you didn't miss them.

SB Nation currently has 253 blogs.. probably more since I believe a few of them are unlisted. That's an awful lot of blogs. An awful lot of people dedicated to bringing you top quality content. Sure, some are better than others, and I obviously can't vouch for every blog being the best of quality, but I do know that most of what I've seen so far have illustrated nothing less than an utter commitment to quality for their readers, regardless of differing strategies to provide such content.

Today I'm looking at Blog Huddle, a blog about, well, SB Nation. Make the jump to read about it, hear me out, and get the links to the rest of my Saturday Swings.

Saturday Swing Around SBNation: Daily Soccer Fix

It's about lunchtime (for me at least, don't know about you) and last I checked it's Saturday, which means it's time for another Saturday Swing around SBNation. In case you're wondering, I'm on these the rest of the offseason as far as I know.

So last week I took a look at Bad Left Hook and The Boxing Bulletin, two fantastic blogs that jointly provided SBNation's boxing coverage. Before that I took a look at such sites as Inhistoric and Ridiculous Upside. I'm thinking next week I will link to all of my previous swing's around our little (not really) blog network here.

This week I take a look at SBNation's soccer coverage, mainly looking at a very good blog: Daily Soccer Fix. So make the jump and I'll fill you in on all you need to know about soccer on SBNation.

Saturday Lunch Swing Around SBNation: Bad Left Hook and The Boxing Bulletin

After a bit of a break due to slight negligence on my part and also the NFL Draft, it's time for me to continue my weekly blog spotlight with your swing around SBNation. I should be back on these throughout the rest of the offseason, or whenever Fooch pulls the plug on me.

SBNation reports that it has 252 blogs currently, and I know there's at least a few more beyond that which aren't listen yet. I don't really have 252 additions of this planned, you see, plus I don't think anybody here wants an in depth look at the Raiders blog, the Packers blog... things of that nature. But it's impressive, isn't it?  Not even factoring in the community that's still at least 252 people on our network dedicated to sports writing.

Last time I did this I took a look at Fake Teams. The weeks prior I looked at Ridiculous UpsideThe Daily ForehandMocking the Draft and Inhistoric. Today I went with two blogs, both centering on the same thing with their own styles. Boxing blogs Bad Left Hook and The Boxing Bulletin.

Tuesday Swing Around SBNation: Fake Teams

Fooch's Note: For those who don't visit the site on weekends, this is generally a regular Saturday or Sunday feature. Due to some delays, I thought it'd be fun for Ninjames to post this during the week so other folks will get a chance to check it out.

I'm coming to you a bit late, but better late than never, right? First there was me screwing up, then things got moved around and long story short, we're doing this SBNation blog profile on Tuesday as opposed to the standard Saturday, which I will be going back to come next Saturday.

SBNation sits at 249 blogs, which I suppose its actually 250, but for some reason the Mocking The Draft blog isn't linked on their blogs profile page. Everything from blogs about your favorite football team (cough cough) to an entire blog dedicated to tracking Tiger Woods. How about that? SBNation is the most diverse blog network of its kind, and by being such, is the best.

Last week I took a look at Ridiculous Upside, and in previous weeks covered The Daily Forehand, a tennis blog, InhistoricUncommon Sportsman, and a bunch more. This week I had three blogs I wanted to take a look at, but I really want them to be thorough looks and thus I'm waiting for replies from the editors, so I'm falling back on another blog you may find useful right now, Fake Teams.
