Boulder, CO (Sports Network) - Rodney Stewart ran for 141 yards and one touchdown to lead the Colorado Buffaloes to a 14-13 victory over the Kansas State Wildcats in Big 12 Conference play.
Tyler Hansen ran for 86 yards and threw for 71 yards for Colorado (4-3, 1-2 Big 12).
Josh Freeman completed only 20-of-41 passes for 237 yards in the loss for Kansas State (4-3, 1-2).
Kansas State led 6-0 at the end of the first quarter on the strength of two Brooks Rossman field goals. The first field goal was a 37-yarder, and the second was a 53-yard connection.
Colorado fought back in the second quarter to earn a 14-6 advantage by intermission. Stewart's four-yard touchdown run was followed by a 21- yard touchdown pass from Hansen to Scotty McKnight.
Kansas State cut its deficit to 14-13 in the third quarter on a 17-yard touchdown run by Freeman. Unfortunately for the Wildcats, their decision to kick the extra point instead of going for the two-point conversion proved costly, as they were held scoreless for the final 25 minutes of the clash.
