Miami Gardens, FL (Sports Network) - Matt Bosher connected on three field goals to lead the Miami Hurricanes to a 16-10 victory over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in ACC play at Dolphin Stadium.
Robert Marve threw for 153 yards in the win for Miami (5-3, 2-2 ACC), but the quarterback also led the team with 56 rushing yards and one touchdown.
Josh Adams paced Wake Forest (4-3, 2-2) on the ground with 111 yards on 21 carries. Riley Skinner struggled in the setback, completing just 3-of-8 passes for a meager 57 yards.
The Demon Deacons jumped out to an early 7-0 lead with a one-yard touchdown plunge by Mike Rinfrette.
The Hurricanes got on the scoreboard late in the first frame with a 36-yard field goal by Bosher.
The only points posted in the second quarter came off the foot of Shane Popham, as the Wake Forest kicker nailed a 24-yard field goal, giving the Demon Deacons a 10-3 edge at the break.
However, Miami-Florida opened the second half with 10 straight points, as Bosher connected on a 52-yard kick, which was followed by a one-yard plunge by Marve.
Miami pushed its lead to 16-10 with a 43-yard field goal by Bosher early in the final frame. The would be more than enough points for Miami, which rode a strong performance from the defensive unit en route to a big win.
